The way we can deliberetely use words to communicate both meaning and experience is one of the underlying principles of really effective communication.

IntegrityNLP and Communicating Excellence place specific emphasis on both the semantic ( meaning ) and syntactic ( structure ) of words on our Newcastle upon Tyne Clinical Hypnotherapy and Newcastle upon Tyne Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy trainings and our NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner courses here in Newcastle and the North East of England.

One of the things that resonated with most while attending my 1st NLP Practitioner was something called ‘Clean Language’. This is what was modelled from therapist David Groves by Penny Tompkins and James Lawley. I was introduced to this by Caitlin Walker. Penny and James book Metaphors in Mind is well worth purchasing.

What blew me away back then was the way my ‘tacit’ experience of the world was elicited in what was described back then as a clean way.

Since then I have studies with the originators of NLP, one in particular that educated me in what content free, clean therapy can actually be.

whilst scouting through my in-box I notice one or two junky spam emails get in. That’s OK, even a well trained spam filter sometimes gets it wrong, it just needs more experience to build a better model that traps more and more spam.

sometimes you just have to take a look at something that catches your attention, in-between the catchy titles of HoraceThumpingBodyPart and RachelWhoppingShlong I saw a title ‘Therapist, Discover Dolphin Power

well, I thought this may be some ‘ecological’ washing powder, specifically marketed at therapists but it wasn’t! For a price, a ridiculously large price, I could attend a weekend course that would ‘teach me’ to tap into and channel not one but several energy levels of entropic ( yes entropic! ) dolphin energy. The secret technique would ’show me’ how to align my energy centres so I could channel Red, Green and Blue to produce effects in others and myself. After attending that training I ‘could be told’ how to attune to the other spectra of dolphin energy.

Now I love a good story and this is a scream. The advert ( aimed at the hard of thinking I should think ) uses a great deal of words that defy descriptions such that interpretation is required.

Fortunately for me, I have had the experience of swimming with our aqua-cousins and while this is so amazing it refutes words, I was not transported to either the Red, Green or Blue energy plains at that time.

So what is all this prelude to, you ask? good question!

Our North East NLP Practitioner, Master Practitioner and Newcastle Clinical Hypnotherapy training uses the NLP Eye Accessing model as a tool to gleen information about how a person, including ourselves are currently processing information. This information can then among other things be used to elicit strategies, find intervention points or learn how to do things even better

Go to the free nlp downloads section to access the nlp eye accessing model. To access these free resources request my occasional newsletter.

Unbelievable as it is, there are people and even some poorly equipped NLP trainers that state this eye accessing model is correct in all circumastnces. Perhaps they dont know about statistical models or calibration either…

Do Remember its only a generalised model, so it really is not true on all occasions.

I spent Tuesday with a very good friend, someone I have know since those balmy university days. We went to Costa’s and we drank good coffee and I grazed on several pieces of good chocolate cake. As we spoke the subject of ethics wriggled up from its can which was catalytic in a very good conversation.

Some years ago I attended a training of one of the very well know NLP names. It seemed a good investment for a 5 day course. After I arrived and over the five days I discovered the sponsor has all the personality of an egg and lurked around alot. The ‘assistants’ seemed to have missed out the concept of rapport and more often than not intruded into personal space. However most disappointing was the ‘big NLP name’ simple regurgitated the contents of their book almost verbatim and 95% of the accompanying stories offered were indeed from the so mentioned book.

I recommend the book to practically everyone, I recommend the course to no-one.
